I finally won the handicap swim race starting last with  a 6 min. 30 second handicap. All the others swam out the wrong way totally missing the rip that I took south of the flags.. I came out spot on with the red buoy popping up in front of the rubber ducky where 2 lifeguards were watching the race from behind the breaks! I asked where I was as I grabbed the first buoy at the southern end of the course. The bloke gave me the no. 1 sign and I high tailed it home letting some waves tumble me into my best victory of the season!
I won the free brekkie...a big breakfast to feed my family!
another rainy colder day as we approach the winter solstice,
it's like a snow storm with the constant downpour, perhaps the leftovers of some cyclone at sea..
we open up the blinds to see the  s   surf club has set up their station/trailer
and flags only a hundred meter nnorth of us up the beach...
I debate about swimming in the turbulent sea taking the rip
and body surfing into the cautionary swimming area(the yellow caution flag is up)
I put on my red Mermaid training team shirt...and I almost look like one of the super heroes (middle aged one) perhaps out of Green Lanter...          she rolls her eyes.

I think I figured it out! Thanks!
I'm having difficulty with my Blog. I'm hoping   that LA can help me!

Happy 420 Day!

Image
Most Aussies don't know what 420 means just as Yanks don't know many Oz terms!
I thought it be apprapo to show a pic of our Prez enjoying this herb but still he has joined forces with the powers that be who are envious of the benefits but dont get any of the profits!

we are a day ahead ... enjoy!

only in the Okie Zone!
believe it or not! "This granny's ganja wasn't for glaucoma -- turns out she might have been the biggest pot dealer in town.
When cops kicked down the door of an elderly woman's Oklahoma home on Monday, they said they knew they'd find some marijuana. What they didn't expect was that 73-year-old Darlene Mayes was packing 4 pounds of pot, $276,000 in cash, a semiautomatic pistol and a revolver, The Daily reported.

by the way, I won the tube race out to the buoys past the break and came 2nd in the club championships in the masters at Mermaid Beach!

days flitter by.. i really notice them doing that the older I get...
so im absorbing this beautiful beach and apreciate other                wonders of our universe!!

this almost looks like two hobbits in lord of the Rings!but it's an Aurora Borealis in Northern Canada

feeling the cool southern winds of autumn

they've been consistenly southerlies for the last couple of months...
so there has been a prevailing current heading north...
we had a brief gorgeous respite for easter monday with winds less than 5 knots...
and we absorbed the day...
Mermaid Beach, the center of their lives that day as with so many days...
a daily worship of the beach and the sea..
I love spending the days with our evolving family..
as we find ourselves and assimilate this beach community lifestyle..
I raffled off two trays..  a veteran member of the club, Alf, my neighbor donated the tray back to the club...
so we had 3 raffles... Wayne, the sports director, joined me to raffle off the last 2 meat trays...
and we had a great night!
more and more, we are feeling this community...
and Colin always asks if we are going to the Surf Club..
I often wake up in the middle of the night
and can't go back to sleep ..
so now I have a chance to write to you a little bit..
my son is growing up so much and I love bonding more with him...
I love that he is growing up in the home and community that I always loved and missed all my life...

wow... what a gorgeous day! ive been on a slight physical                  euphoria lately , cementing a strong pt on our mermaid club...coming in second last week and then 3rd          on a one lap sprint around the buoys..
this was the best day as far as weather and warmth...
everyone was out on the beach this am
and I soaked in the refreshing blue water as it took me out past the break...
and then body surfing in between the flags

HAPPY GOOD FRIDAY IN PARADISE

although one can feel the autumn in the air in the evening and early morning...
the waves were very strong and took a while to reach the calmer part of the sea past the breaks..
another gorgeous day topping off such a beautiful day with an almost full moon..
we left the tent out tonight...
in case I have the energy to go out later tonight and take in the tent...
so some drunken bum won't decide to sleep in it...
all sorts walk by on the beach under a full moon at night...
another day as they flood together like a rising tide with strong waves, and the water is rushing back faster to the sea...
i realize how important it is for our family not to drown...
and where is the safest spot in the world??... as long as we don't drive...
too much action perhaps for
such a few square miles of beach and sea..
at the edge of the continent...
with billions of square miles of sea in front of you..
so, so much action in the currents to and fro...
a life is saved
a then a week later, a life could have easily been  taken by a shark surfing the same wave
as the victim of his ire...
who doesnt enjoy strange human feet
landing on his back for a little ride
and bites back with instinctive survival anger,
 then a week later
a life is taken by our own flotation device,
a surfboard
in the unwelcome invisible froth of the surf,
a board right into the poor lad's head..
we go into a state of numbness
and then we move on
some sooner than others...
i have had my own loss…
that is so cool, steve...
I have a lot of editing to do to fix some of my past essays..
Maybe you could help me and we could arrange to have it published...
and get LA involved in figuring how to put it all together to sell!
